For Annabel Browne, the experience at the Swanage & De Villiers party was not all it was cracked up to be, especially after her run-in with Mrs. Driscoll, the firm's resident slut. The fact she claimed the very handsome, classy, and interesting man who spoke with Annabel was not a mystery. The woman would claim any available handsome man if she thought to get away with it, however, for now it is one incident that Annabelle soon forgot. She has friends of her own, plans of her own, and more than one book contracted and so as deadlines approach, she is somewhat content to go back home. She was tired of the necessary publicity rounds in New York anyway, and wanted to be taking up her life in Ocean Breeze, where she lives, and writes, and sometimes wishes for love.

To arrive home, settle in, and just enjoy her writing time. It was a somewhat lonely career, but that was fine with Annabel. She has other friends who are writers, artists, and that keeps her fairly busy with a social life in her own circles. She never thought to actually meet her tall dark handsome stranger, but then the fates are not known for their subtleties, just their quirks and tricks.

Adam Tremayne was definitely not in the best of shape when he returned to his condo in Ocean Breeze. He was glad to get home, but he was sick as a dog. He felt it coming on days ago, but was not thinking it would be any thing serious, but here he was, on his own doorstep, and wondering if he would make it inside. He was forever grateful to Hank St. George, his neighbor, for helping him that night, and more than a bit shocked and puzzled by the young woman Luke MacLean, his cousin, and Hank had hired to nurse and help him through his illness. There was something familiar about her, but he just couldn’t place it.

Now back in the pink, he is shocked and appalled at her showing up to a friend’s for dinner. His reactions to being caught off guard are not pleasant, and he is embarrassed by the vehemence of the result. Now Adam feels apologies are not enough, and yet he finds himself wanting more than just a few hellos and dinners from the shy and retiring young writer.

But as scandal plays in the wind around the couple, old lovers, enemies, and danger stalks the pair with the vilest of intent. That leads us to only two questions... Will Annabel become the resident song in this sensuous poet's heart? Can these two survive to find their own love for all time?
